The US-based popular on-demand streaming service, Netflix is arriving in the Indian market. In addition to India, it is also being launched in more than a hundred new countries including South Korea, Philippines, Vietnam, Pakistan, Singapore and Indonesia.
For those unaware, Netflix is the world’s leading Internet television network, that carries most of the movies and TV sitcoms. In point of fact, Netflix has contracts with a number of movie companies and TV networks. Besides, it includes original series and documentaries. Currently, this online streaming service has over 70 million members in over 190 countries. Its members can watch as much as they want, anywhere, anytime on nearly any Internet connected screen.
The subscription plans in India are being started at Rs. 500 per month while, the video streaming service will cost at Rs. 650 and Rs. 800, according to its website. On the plus side, the Indian users will get one month free service when they subscribe.
Although, Netflix will be competing with other on-demand video services in India, such as Hooq, Spuul, Boxtv.com, Eros, Ogle, Ditto TV,Star’s Hotstar and others.
