Motorola recently launched the Moto X Play smart phone in its X series.The phone seems to be a good in under 20K segment considering the features vs price comparison.The price of this phone in India is RS 19,999.The prime features of the Smartphone are its 3,630mAh long-lasting battery and 21-MP camera, loaded with a number of features.
DESIGN & STYLING
The Motorola Moto X Play features a 5.5-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with Full HD resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The smart phone comes with changeable back covers. It is made of sturdy metallic plastic. It sports a rubberized finish and a texture to enhance the grip. The display looks great.It also has been embossed with “M” logo.
On the plus side, the smart phone is water resistant. In fact, its advanced nano-coating technology creates a water-repellent barrier to help protect against moderate exposure to water such as light rain, splashes or accidental spills. So it is clear that the smart phone is water resistant, not waterproof. The device measures 148 X 75 X 10.9 mm and weighs only 169 gram.The handset is available in Black and White colours.
SYSTEM & SOFTWARE
The Moto X Play runs on the latest Android 5.1 OS and powered by Motorola Mobile Computing System including 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 Octa-core CPU, Adreno 405 @ 550 MHz GPU with artificial intelligence. Additionally, it has 2GB of RAM together with two storage variants- 16GB and 32GB and both storages are expandable up to 128GB with the help of microSD cards.
Motorola also includes some of its own system apps. The company has customized the Gallery, Messaging and Camera apps. In addition, there are also some Motorola features such as Moto Display, Assist, Help and support for gestures to activate camera and torch functions.
In terms of connectivity, the dual-SIM enabled Moto X Play includes 4G LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, hotspot, Bluetooth v4.0, A2DP, micro USB v2.0, GPS with A-GPS and NFC. Here it is noteworthy that NFC is a short-range high frequency wireless communication technology that enables the exchange of data between devices over about a 10 cm distance. Besides, the handset provides a whole set of sensors, including Accelerometer, Proximity sensor and compass, however, it does not have any Gyroscope.

Quality of Earphones is also not up to the mark. Apart from these, the device gets heated often.The low clock speed of the GPU makes the phone lag during animations and scrolling.
