The homegrown company Micromax has recently launched its latest flagship smartphone- the Canvas 5 in the Canvas series. The smartphone comes with a price tag of Rs 11,999 and is available from leading retail stores across the nation. In fact, the Micromax Canvas 5 is the successor to the Micromax Canvas 4, which was launched in the year of 2013. The handset is available in Space Grey and Tan Brown colour variants. On the plus side, the Canvas 5 comes with a sturdy and stylish metal body.
The dual-SIM based Canvas 5 features a 5.2-inch full-HD IPS display with 2.5D Curved Touch Panel and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box and is said to be upgradable to Android 6.0 Marshmallow and is powered by a 1.3GHz 64-bit Octa-Core MediaTek MT6753 processor along with Mali-T720 GPU.
In terms of storage, the device ranks high as it comes with a 3 GB DDR3 RAM and 16 GB of internal memory, which is further expandable up to 64 GB via microSD card. On the camera front, the smartphone features a 13-MP rear autofocus camera with Samsung 3M2 sensor, PDAF and LED flash together with a front-facing 5-MP camera.
On the connectivity front, the Canvas 5 supports 4G, CAT 4, 2G, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and microUSB 2.0. Moreover, the smartphone is fuelled by a 2,900 mAh battery which delivers up to 10 hours of talk time and up to 275 hours of standby time, as the company claims. Additionally, the company gives double data offer for Airtel 4G customers for 3 months.
