You may have remembered that Facebook had bought mobile photo sharing and social network app Instagram in the year of 2012 for nearly $1 billion. You will be surprised to know that Instagram, now, has nearly doubled the number of its monthly active users in India. Currently, it has more than 400 million users globally, nonetheless, the company did not share the exact number of active users in India.
Here it is remarkable that most users of Instagram belong to higher income households in India. According to the MD, Facebook India, 90 per cent of Instagram users are below 30 in India. And, nearly 25 per cent of them have post-paid mobile phone connections and 37 per cent of Instagram users own a car. In view of these elite users on board the company expects that Instagram would attract more advertisers on its platform.
As an advertisement platform, Instagram has opened up its platform to businesses of all sizes around the world this year and in India, advertisers on Instagram include Nestle, Paper Boat, Grofers, P&G, TrulyMadly Matchmakers and Sportskeeda.
