Firefox makes a commercial debut into the mobile os market with its 3.5 inch touchscreen enabled smartphone in Spain.The low end mobile phone using FOS has been launched by Telefonica – a mobile carrier in spain.The new smartphone named ‘ZTE Open’ comes with 3.2-megapixel camera, 256MB RAM and 512MB flash.It runs on 1.0 GHz Cortex-A5 processor and will costs about $90.
The latest mobile os by firefox was released earlier this year for smartphones and tablet computers.Targeted towards the smartphone starters and the youngters , the new ZTE Open , is integrated with social applications like Facebook andTuenti – a spain based popular social network.There is no secondary camera in this device which is used for video calling.The network support in the phone is via 802.11 b/g/n, dual-band WIFI , bluetooth and 7.2 mbps HSDPA. The Firefox phone has been launched in two colors – Blue and Orange.
The greatest challenge for the Firefox Mobile platform will be to woo the developers to create new applications and it is yet to see how far the new mobile os has succeeded in getting users attraction.
