According to a new report, social networking giant Facebook and mobile messaging service WhatsApp have retained their positions as the most popular applications among Indians this year.
Apart this, Alibaba-backed mobile browser, UC Browser is the third-most used app in India after mobile messaging service WhatsApp and social networking giant Facebook. At the same time, Truecaller is also among the top-five most popular mobile applications among Indians, says the study conducted by WhichApp, a mobile app that helps users discover new applications that their friends use. Apart from UC Browser, UC Browser HD and UC Browser Mini are among the top six browser app list in India.
Here, it is worth-mentioning that the popularity has been decided on the basis of the number of WhichApp users having and actively using the apps on their mobile phones and only those apps have been taken into account which have been used at least once a month.
WhichApp co-Founder and CEO Kapil Chawla explains, "Our future plans are to localize for vernacular languages for the non-English speaking audience and rollout in other countries as the app is only available in India right now". He further adds, "The aim is to have 10 million users by December 2016". At present, it has 100,000 users in the country.
